About 30% of Ukrainian veterans are currently unemployed due to psychological discomfort from returning to civilian life after being accustomed to military life and subordination to commanders.

Currently, about 30% of Ukrainian veterans are unemployed. The reason for this is the psychological discomfort of returning to the civilian environment. This was stated by Karina Doroshenko, Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, during a briefing, UNN reports .

Details

In particular, we see from research, and this is expected, that employers want to hire veterans because they have good leadership skills, stress resistance, endurance, the ability to find solutions, and very good project competence. But despite this, we see from research that about 30% of veterans are currently unemployed, have unemployment status

- Doroshenko said.

She noted that there may be different reasons for this, but one of the reasons mentioned by veterans is that they are psychologically uncomfortable returning to civilian life, to their previous place of work, because the military get used to being subordinate to their commander and working with their comrades.

Some of them are ready to start their own business, develop their own business, invite their fellow soldiers to work and create new businesses together in civilian life, but not all of them are ready to start their own business

- Doroshenko added.

Recall

Given that there are currently about a million people in the Defense Forces, the veteran community in Ukraine will be about 5 million people after the war ends.
