Due to Russian missile attacks that damaged thermal and hydroelectric power plants, electricity supply is limited in Kryvyi Rih and Kharkiv region. However, there may be restrictions in two other regions.

Due to damage to thermal  and hydroelectric power plants by Russian missile attacks, electricity supply in Kryvyi Rih and Kharkiv region is limited. In the evening, restrictions are possible in the eastern and Dnipro regions.  The weather also cut off power to more than 200 settlements in 5 regions. This was reported by Ukrenergo on Friday, UNN reports

Thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged in the nighttime massive attack. The damage is being inspected at the facilities, and the State Emergency Service is working if necessary. At the same time, Ukrenergo's 330 kV high-voltage power lines were damaged, and emergency repair work has begun

- Ukrenergo said in a statement.

It is also reported that the debris is being cleared and the damage is being repaired at the power plants that were damaged in the March 22 attack.

Consumption

"At present, due to the consequences of the night attack, electricity consumption is limited only in Kryvyi Rih. Emergency power outages have been in effect in the region since nightfall," the company said.

Ukrenergo emphasized that in the evening, when consumption increases, it is possible to apply measures to limit consumption in other areas of the eastern and Dnipro regions. Therefore, they urged to consume electricity sparingly.

According to Ukrenergo, consumption in Kharkiv region was not limited at night. However, in the morning, as consumption increased, Ukrenergo's Dispatch Center was forced to apply restrictive measures. At present, according to the schedules of hourly outages of the regional power companies, about 200 thousand consumers are cut off.

Production

"Despite the nighttime attack on the power plants, the power system is operating in a balanced manner. No shortage of electricity is expected," the company said. They also added that the storm front passing through Ukraine is conducive to the operation of wind power plants.  Three power units at thermal power plants are in operation.

Emergency assistance

Yesterday, March 28, a surplus of electricity was reportedly generated in the power system during the hours of active operation of solar and wind power plants. In order to maintain the balance between production and consumption and the operational security of the power system, in response to Ukrenergo's request, the Polish power system operator PSE provided emergency assistance by purchasing surplus Ukrainian electricity in the total amount of 1600 MWh from 11:00 to 15:00.

Import and export

Imports from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova are expected throughout the day. The total volume is 11,596 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,520 MW in some hours.

Regarding exports, Ukrenergo indicated that during the night hours of minimum consumption and during the daytime hours of active operation of renewable energy power plants to Romania, Slovakia, and Moldova. The total volume is 11,596 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,520 MW in some hours.

De-energization

It is also reported that strong winds and rain have caused significant damage to the power company networks - more than 200 settlements in Zakarpattia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky, and Chernivtsi regions were cut off from electricity in the morning.

For other reasons, 374 settlements were de-energized

Due to the hostilities, there are power outages in Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, Ukrenergo added.
