The European Union has approved new sanctions against 30 individuals and two organizations linked to the death of Alexei Navalny, including representatives of the Russian judiciary, who will face travel bans, asset freezes and other restrictions.

The European Union has approved new sanctions in connection with the death of Alexei Navalny. The EU foreign ministers agreed on this today at a meeting in Brussels, UNN reports citing Bild.

"We have established the need to impose sanctions on 30 individuals and two organizations related to Navalny's death," said Portuguese Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho.

According to media reports, the sanctions will affect representatives of the Russian judiciary. They will be banned from entering the EU and doing business with Europeans. Their accounts and other assets will be frozen. The specific names of those who will be sanctioned will be published in the EU's official journal in the coming days. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also approved renaming the EU's human rights sanctions instrument in honor of Navalny.
