More than 2,000 homes were flooded in the Kurgan region due to a leak at a dam, leading to the evacuation of nearby residents.

In the Russian Kurgan there is a flood again. Due to a leak in the dam flooded more than 2,000 houses.According to the governor of Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov residents of nearby areas will be evacuated, reports UNN.

"The water level in Tobol in a number of areas has exceeded the maximum of 1994. The section of the dam at Voronovka, 2nd  Mayachnaya Street, Krupskaya Street, built in 2014, is experiencing a large hydraulic load due to a sharp rise in water level and thawing of the lower part of the ground, which causes leaks and delaminations.

The regional governor urged residents of surrounding areas to evacuate.

Earlier it was reportedthat 2,090 residential houses, 3,380 dacha houses, 5 low-water bridges and 8 road sections went under water completely or partially.

Recall

Back in early April, the water level in the Tobol River came close to the critical mark and reached almost 9 meters - the water rose by 3.5 meters in a day and continued to arrive rapidly. Emergency evacuations were also announced in Kurgan Oblast.
