The Parliamentary Committee on National Security plans to summon representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain their order to suspend consular services for Ukrainian men abroad in connection with the new law on mobilization.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Intelligence plans to summon representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain the order to suspend the provision of consular services for Ukrainian men abroad. This was stated by a member of the committee, MP Solomiya Bobrovska on Radio Liberty, UNN reports

Details

Bobrovska noted that after the mobilization law comes into force, i.e. after May 18, men of military age have two months to update their military records.

The MP called the Ministry's order "semi-legal".

In three months, an order was issued illegally or semi-legally, which has a dubious result, adequacy and content.

According to her, this issue is within the competence of the National Security Committee, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not submit any comments or amendments during the work on the draft law.

"I don't remember the Foreign Ministry at any committee, regarding comments and amendments that would relate to the legislation, to changes in the law on mobilization. Therefore, I think we will summon them (the Foreign Ministry - ed.) to the next committee to explain what kind of disturbance they did not warn us about," Bobrovska said.

Recall

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new applications for consular services from Ukrainian men aged 18-60  abroad, due to the new law on military service and mobilization, which will come into force on May 18, 2024.
