The Verkhovna Rada plans to consider a draft law providing social support for children affected by Russia's full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, but concerns are raised about the lack of financial justification for providing adequate assistance.

The Verkhovna Rada plans to consider in the second reading a draft law on the basis of social protection of children affected by Russia's full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine at one of its next meetings. This was reported by UNN with reference to the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada meeting.

The purpose of the draft law No. 9042-1 is to define the instruments of social support for children affected by the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, depending on the damage caused to the child by such aggression.

The draft law provides for each child affected by the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine to establish its own tools that will respond to the child's condition, depending on the damage caused to the child by such aggression.

However, Darya Kasyanova, head of the board of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network, stated that the draft law No. 9042-1 did not provide financial and economic justifications for the initiative.

"This means that not all of the affected children can  receive medical and psychological assistance, pedagogical rehabilitation, social and rehabilitation services,  material support, health and recreation services. Or they will not be able to receive it in the proper amount," Kasyanova wrote on January 19, 2024.

Addendum

In June 2023, the Verkhovna Rada supported as a basis the draft law No. 9042-1, which provides state support to children affected by the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
