Ukraine will become a strategic partner of Azerbaijan. This was announced today in St. Petersburg during a meeting with Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Oktay Assad told the UNN , the press service of BP.

He also stressed the need for further development in economic relations, and particularly in the energy sector.

Lytvyn, in turn, said that the positive dynamics in bilateral relations - a requirement not only time but also a result of good personal contacts, mutual respect and mutual interest, "adding that" this foundation, which is the key to the development of our relations for years to come laid Heydar Aliyev.

While agreeing with the necessity to further cooperation in the economic sphere, Speaker said that especially large opportunities for relationships - in the humanitarian sphere. In particular, he believes, should develop relations in science, education, culture, exchange students.

In his view, measures aimed at developing relations in this area would contribute to further convergence of the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani peoples. "I rely on the cooperation in science and education - it will provide feed and expand the range of contacts" - said V. Lytvyn.

He also congratulated the Azerbaijani colleagues on winning duo "Ella and Nikki" on the Eurovision song contest.
