Events for the anniversary of Taras Shevchenko demonstrate common historical and cultural origins of Ukraine and Russia - Sergey MironovAn important part of inter-parliamentary relations is cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. A striking evidence of this is held in Ukraine and Russia joint activities to mark the 150 th anniversary of reburial of the ashes of Shevchenko. This was announced today in St. Petersburg during a meeting with Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov, told UNN according to the press service of the BP. According to him, these measures have not only political significance, but also "demonstrate the commonality of our historical and cultural roots, our common responsibility for the day yesterday, today and tomorrow." In turn, Volodymyr Lytvyn said that the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation today took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Shevchenko in St. Petersburg, thus starting the program activities to mark the 150 anniversary of the reburial of the ashes of Poet.
