The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is establishing direct cooperation with Western arms manufacturers, such as Colt Canada Corporation, to supply small arms and meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under commercial contracts.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klymenkov met with Vice President of Colt Canada Corporation Alex Payne. The parties discussed the prospects of supplying small arms to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under commercial contracts between the Defense Procurement Agency and Colt Canada Corporation. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that Colt Canada, a member of the Colt CZ Group, is the exclusive supplier of small arms to the Canadian Armed Forces.

Canada has been at the forefront of major partner countries that have supported Ukraine since the first days of the large-scale Russian invasion. We are now establishing direct cooperation with Western arms manufacturers. We are familiar with the products of Colt Canada Corporation and highly appreciate their quality. It is used as the main type of small arms in many armies around the world,

- said Dmytro Klimenkov.

Small arms are widely used in all branches and services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Armed Forces are currently being transformed in accordance with NATO standards. In particular, this involves the transition to new types of small arms, replacing Soviet weapons.

To effectively meet the needs of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense is developing a transparent and efficient procurement architecture, the rules of which will be clear to international business. The function of setting procurement rules remains with the Ministry, while direct procurement is transferred to procurement agencies that build their work on the best practices of international corporate governance,

- said Dmytro Klimenkov.
