Ukraine and NATO have reached the highest level of relations since Ukraine's independence, but Ukraine will be in the Alliance because it is crucial for European and Euro-Atlantic security, President Zelenskyy said.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and NATO have reached the highest level of relations since our country's independence, but not the highest possible. The head of state emphasized that Ukraine will be in the Alliance, because it is no longer possible to imagine the security of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community without Ukraine's effective participation, UNN reports.

In general, today we can say that Ukraine and the Alliance have reached the highest level of relations since our independence. But not the greatest possible, and that is what we have been talking about today. It is obvious that Ukraine will be in the Alliance, because it is no longer possible to imagine the security of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community without Ukraine's effective participation. It is our country, our people and our potential that Russia is trying to use as a springboard for further destabilization of the entire European and Euro-Atlantic space. Therefore, it is in the defense of our state that the answer to the question of reliable and long-term common security lies

- Zelensky said during a press conference following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Zelensky added that Ukraine deserves an invitation to join NATO.

"We believe that the Alliance should not be afraid of its own strength and has no right to retreat from its own rules just because the Kremlin wants such a retreat," the President added.
