Long-range weapons, PPOs and artillery: Zelensky at Ramstein outlines Ukraine's key weapons priorities
Kyiv • UNN
Ukrainian President Zelensky outlined the main weapons priorities needed by the AFU: long-range weapons such as ATACMS, air defense systems such as Patriot, more artillery, and increased weapons production to counter Russian aggression and achieve Ukraine's goals in the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at the meeting "Ramstein" said that Kiev now can not only stabilize the front, but also move forward. He also identified the main priorities in weapons for Ukraine, reports UNN.
"Dear friends, please do not forget that you decide. It is not just about supplying arms. You decide the fate of a world that will either live by the rules we all recognize or will depend only on the mercy of those whose violence is brutal. At what stage is the war now? After two years of Ramstein, the answer is clear. It still depends solely on our interaction. On how promptly we act and whether our agreements are fully implemented," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president also added that during the six months while Ukraine was waiting for a decision on American support, the Russian army managed to seize the initiative on the battlefield, but Kiev can move forward and achieve its goals.
"... we can still now not only stabilize the front, but also move forward, achieving our Ukrainian goals in the war," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian head of state also prioritized weapons for Ukraine:
First. Long-range weapons. No part of the occupied territory of Ukraine shall remain safe for the occupier. Storm shadows, Scalps and ATACMS. The range must be sufficient.
Second. Air Shield. Russia has already used more than 9,000 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine this year. And we need the ability to shoot down warplanes to keep them away from our positions and borders. And that's possible. It's as possible as protecting Ukraine's cities from Russian missiles. We urgently need Patriot systems and the missiles to go with them. That's what can and must save lives right now. We need at least 7 Patriot to keep our cities safe. You have these systems, and they can really make a difference right now. Change it for the better and also speed up the transition to F-16s.
Third. Artillery. The 1 to 10 ratio of artillery in our country to the Russian army inspires Putin to fight on. He believes he will go through the ruins and try to launch a counteroffensive. We have to destroy it. Our soldiers need artillery. 155 caliber to stop Russian attacks and conduct our own active operations.
Fourth. Please give maximum attention to arms production both in your countries and in our joint projects with you and in Ukraine.
