Details

After a series of significant losses of Russian ships in the Black Sea, on March 10, 2024, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy , Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, was most likely removed from office.  He will be replaced by the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseev

- , the British intelligence service said.

As noted, Yevmenov's dismissal followed the dismissal of the second  commander of the Black Sea Fleet from February 2022 and the loss of the Sergei Kotov on March 5, 2024. According to the British Ministry of Defense, the Sergius Kotov is the ninth large ship lost by Russia since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Admiral Moiseev reportedly commanded the Black Sea Fleet in 2018-2019 before being appointed commander of the Northern Fleet .

"It is likely that Admiral Moiseev's first task as Commander-in-Chief of the Navy will be to stabilize the security situation in the Black Sea and taking measures aimed at increasing the combat capability of the Black Sea Fleet in the region," the statement said.
