Ukraine and Slovakia signed a memorandum on deepening cooperation in the nuclear industry, including the exchange of experience in operating nuclear facilities, fuel diversification, and the development of small modular reactors.

During intergovernmental consultations, the delegations of Ukraine and Slovakia discussed cooperation in the nuclear industry and diversification of oil and natural gas transportation. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, UNN writes.

The intergovernmental consultations between Ukraine and Slovakia discussed joint initiatives in the nuclear industry, diversification of oil and gas transportation routes, and synchronization of market conditions and products to increase liquidity in the gas and electricity markets. These actions should form the basis for the development of the Eastern European Energy Hub.

In particular, Mykola Kolisnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, and Denisa Sakova, Minister of Economy of Slovakia, discussed increasing the capacity of interconnectors and developing joint projects that will help synchronize markets. These measures are important for strengthening regional energy security.

During the meeting, the parties also signed a Memorandum on deepening cooperation in the nuclear industry.

"The document envisages strengthening cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, the development of small modular reactors, including the exchange of experience in the operation of nuclear facilities and fuel diversification," the Energy Ministry writes.

The parties reached an agreement on cooperation in energy sector investment and management of the energy systems of both countries, taking into account Ukraine's experience in the use of alternative nuclear fuel at nuclear power plants.

Recall

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico assured that Slovakia supports Ukraine's accession to the EU and will not impede this process and will even share its experience of joining the EU.
