Zelenskyy discussed with European Council President Michel the next steps to actually start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU and further additional EU assistance.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the President of the European Council Charles Michel. The leaders discussed further steps towards the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, as well as further assistance from the European Union, UNN reports.
On the eve of the European Council meeting, I had a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel. First of all, they discussed further steps towards the actual start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, as well as further comprehensive support of Ukraine by the EU
The Head of State thanked Charles for yesterday's approval of the decision on the establishment of the special Fund for Assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 5 billion within the European Peace Fund. In addition, according to the President, the parties considered possible ways to increase the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
"We discussed the importance of extending autonomous trade preferences for Ukraine for another year. I emphasized that the continuation of the trade liberalization regime with the EU is a critical factor in supporting the Ukrainian economy during the war," Zelensky added.
