On December 10, Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite and founder of the Nobel Prize, which has been awarded since 1901 in various fields, including economics since 1969, is remembered. This day also marks such international events as the Day of Charity in Ukraine and the Day of Animal Rights Protection.

Today, on December 10, many people around the world honor the memory of Alfred Nobel, a prominent chemist, engineer and writer, inventor of dynamite and founder of the most prestigious prize in many fields, UNN reports.

Details

It was on December 10, 1896, in San Remo that Alfred Nobel died. He bequeathed his entire inheritance, which amounted to 31.5 million Swedish kronor in the form of securities, the income from which was to be distributed equally each year, to finance the prize he founded.

Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been awarded annually for outstanding services in physics, chemistry, physiology and medicine, literature, and peacekeeping. Since 1969, the Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded at the initiative of the Central Bank of Sweden.

In Ukraine, since 2007, every second Sunday of December is celebrated as the Day of Charity .

The event was introduced to support charitable activities at different levels of responsibility and to encourage government agencies and local governments to support any charitable initiatives.

Since 1998, many countries around the world have been celebrating the International Day for the Adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of Animals.

The Declaration itself was approved by the International League for Animal Rights on September 23, 1977. Now animal rights activists are seeking to have it adopted at the level of the United Nations.

The date - December 10 - was chosen because it was on this day that the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

December 10 can also be celebrated as World Football Day.

Various team games with ball-like objects have existed in many countries since ancient times.

However, England is considered the birthplace of football. It was here in 1863 that the world's first football association was established and the first 10 football rules were adopted.

Since 1908, football has become an Olympic sport, and the first FIFA World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930.

Ukraine has also left its mark on world football history. In 1975 and 1986, Dynamo Kyiv won the UEFA Cup, and in 1975 the UEFA Super Cup. "Shakhtar2 (Donetsk) won the UEFA Cup in 2009.

Ukrainian footballers Oleh Blokhin, Ihor Belanov, and Andriy Shevchenko have won the world's most prestigious individual football award, the Ballon d'Or, in different years.

According to the church calendar, today is the Day of Remembrance of the Martyrs Mina, Hermogenes, and Eugraphus.

Emperor Maximinus sent them to Alexandria to stop the spread of Christianity.

Mina and Euphras were Christians themselves, and Hermogenes also believed in the Lord. All three, on the contrary, preached and supported Christians.

This angered Maximinus, who arrived in Alexandria himself. By his order, Minu Hermogenes and Euphras were tortured for a long time, then executed, and their bodies thrown into the sea.

According to legend, their relics were later found and transferred to Constantinople.

Yevhen, Stepan, and Ivan celebrate their name days on December 10.
