Putin seeks to destroy Ukraine's existence as an independent country and to drag NATO into a war, but Germany will never allow this, the German foreign minister said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is moving toward a military conflict with the Western military alliance NATO, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said, as quoted by Tagesschau, reports UNN.
Putin's goal was and still is to destroy Ukraine's existence as an independent, free country and to draw NATO into the war
However, according to her, the German government will never allow this to happen.
Burbock also indicated that she does not accept arguments and appeals for humanity. "And he certainly does not want to negotiate," the German Foreign Minister said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that a number of countries, including Ukraine, are discussing at the level of security advisors what form a peace agreement could take .
Scholz also said that Germany is not going to transfer long-range Taurus missiles because it could lead to a war between Russia and NATO. Germany will also "carefully weigh" every arms supply to Ukraine.
