Japan's Osaka-Kansai Airport hasn't lost a single piece of luggage in 30 years of operation: how is it possible
Kyiv • UNN
Japan's Osaka-Kansai Airport hasn't lost a single piece of luggage in its 30 years of operation thanks to careful design optimized for efficient baggage handling and tracking.
For almost 30 years, Japan's Osaka Airport (KIX) has held an absolute record: to date, no luggage has been lost. Effective work is due to the peculiarities of the design and location of airport services, UNN reports with reference to Asia Nikkei.
Details
Since its opening on September 4, 1994, Japan's Osaka-Kansai Airport has gained international recognition for its fast and reliable baggage delivery. It has never had a single lost baggage in its history.
Efficient operation is due to various factors, among which the most important is the careful design of work areas - this was developed from the very beginning to optimize ground services.
Everything from the land it occupies to the final construction details is specifically designed to accommodate the airport and all its services. This includes tracking all types of baggage, large or small.
For reference
Kansai International Airport serves the region that bears its name, where three of Japan's largest cities are located: Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe.
It was built on an artificial island 4 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide, designed to withstand all natural hazards, including tsunamis and typhoons.
The terminal, designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano, is the longest in the world and is 1.7 km long.
