Mayor: Kharkiv heating season ends ahead of schedule due to Russian attacks on energy facilities
Kyiv • UNN
Due to Russian attacks on energy facilities, Kharkiv is ending the heating season ahead of schedule to reduce the load on electricity.
Heat supply will be cut off in Kharkiv tomorrow, as the city decided to end the heating season ahead of schedule due to the still-existing electricity shortage after massive Russian attacks on the city's energy facilities. This was announced on Monday by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, UNN reports.
Last Friday, the enemy actually destroyed the main energy facilities that powered our city
He pointed out that all these days, utilities together with power engineers continue to eliminate the consequences of the attack in order to restore the provision of utilities to residential buildings. They have partially succeeded in doing so, but, as Terekhov pointed out, there is still a shortage of electricity.
"Because of this, the only possible measure to reduce the load on the power system is to end the heating season early. [Only this will allow us to provide electricity to the maximum number of consumers and to supply hot water to the homes of Kharkiv residents. The heat supply will be cut off starting tomorrow," the mayor said.
According to him, the temperature outside is favorable for the end of the heating season.
Addendum
Terekhov also noted that today they have managed to accomplish the almost impossible - to launch train traffic at all metro stations with an interval of 20 minutes. At the same time, according to him, there is still not enough capacity for ground electric transport.
Instead of trams and trolleybuses, free municipal buses continue to transport passengers under the blackout scheme, the mayor said.
Add
In Kharkiv, after the massive attack by the Russian Federation, almost 80% of the city has been powered . However, the situation with power supply in the city remains difficult, with blackout schedules still in place.
