Netflix's crime drama series Ripley, based on the novels by Patricia Highsmith and starring Andrew Scott, Johnny Flynn, Dakota Fanning, and Elliot Sumner, tells the story of the charismatic con man Tom Ripley in the 1950s and 60s! Ripley (premiere - April 4)

The crime drama launched by Netflix is based on a series of novels by American writer Patricia Highsmith. The central character, the charismatic Tom Ripley, is a thief and swindler who pulls off scams to get ahead in life.

The story takes place in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. The series begins with Ripley being hired by a wealthy American to bring his prodigal son back from Europe.

The main role in the series is played by Irish actor Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Breaking Bad, The Hollow Crown, Dark Beginnings, Black Mirror). The show also stars Johnny Flynn (Emma, David Bowie: The Story of a Man from the Stars), Dakota Fanning (Ocean's 8, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Eliot Sumner (Gentlemen, A Time to Die).

The series was directed and written by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian, known for his scripts for Schindler's List, Gangs of New York, The Irishman, and other films.

Sugar (premiere - April 5)

The plot of the crime drama presented by Apple TV+ centers on Los Angeles private investigator John Sugar.

The detective investigates the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. During the investigation, Sugar.learns a lot about the Siegel family.

Colin Farrell (Lay Low in Bruges, Banshee Inisherina, Batman) plays the lead role in the series.

The series was written by Mark Protosevich, who worked on scripts for such films as Poseidon, I Am Legend, Thor, and Oldboy.

Parasyte: The Grey (Parasyte: The Grey, premiere - April 5)

The South Korean sci-fi series with horror elements will be available on Netflix.

Unknown parasites from outer space begin to take over human bodies and make their way to power. Humanity faces a threat to its existence and must fight.

Fallout (premiere - April 11)

Prime Video launches the adaptation of Interplay Entertainment's cult video game series of the same name.

The story is set in the future, two centuries after the nuclear conflict of 2077. In this alternate history, advances in nuclear technology after World War II have led to the emergence of a retrofuturistic society and a subsequent war for resources. The survivors have taken refuge in underground radioactive bunkers built to preserve humanity in the event of nuclear annihilation. The inhabitant of one of these bunkers leaves it to reach the wild Wasteland in place of Los Angeles.

The series stars Ella Purnell (Kick-Ass 2, The Conjuring), Walton Goggins (Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Aaron Moten (Mozart in the Jungle, Deliverance).

The series was created by the couple Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (the younger brother of director Christopher Nolan), known as the creators of the sci-fi series Wild West World.

The series' music was composed by Ramin Javadi, a composer known for his work on the music of Wild West World, as well as for such series as Game of Thrones, Dragon's Den, and the films Iron Man, Warcraft, etc.

Franklin (Franklin, premiere - April 12)

The HBO mini-series will tell the story of several years in the life of one of the founding fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin. The series follows Franklin's stay in France, where he tries to secure guarantees for the existence and independence of the young American state.

Franklin was portrayed by the famous American actor Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Basic Instinct, Ant-Man).

The series was directed by Tim Van Patten, who previously worked on such successful shows as The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Underground Empire, and Game of Thrones.

The Sympathizer (premiere on April 14)

HBO also prepared a historical spy drama based on the novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The story is set against the backdrop of the fall of the South Vietnamese government in 1975. Subsequently, events unfold in California (USA). The protagonist is a secret communist agent, Viet Cong, who arrives in the United States to spy on people from South Vietnam.

The main role in the series was played by Hoa Xuande (Cowboy Bebop). The series also stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Oppenheimer).

The series was directed by the famous South Korean director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Maid).

Under the Bridge (premiere on April 17)

This Hulu mini-series is based on the book by Rebecca Godfrey, which tells the story of the brutal murder of 14-year-old girl Reena Virk by a group of teenagers, which really happened in Canada in 1997. The main character of the series is the writer Rebecca Godfrey herself, who is trying to find out what really happened.

The series stars Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Devil Is Always Here) and Lily Gladstone (Full Moon Killers).

Conan O'Brien Must Go (premiere - April 18)

A comedy series from HBO. The main role of Conan O'Brien was played by American comedian Conan O'Brien. O'Brien visits new friends around the world whom he has found through his podcast Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend. He gets to know the local culture and customs.

The Spiderwick Chronicles (premiere on April 19)

The series from The Roku Channel, based on the children's fantasy book series of the same name by Holly Black and Tony Dieterlizzi/ The plot is based on the story of three children who find a fairy field guide, which takes them to a mysterious world where they meet various magical creatures.

The series stars Christian Slater (The Name of the Rose, Interview with the Vampire).

Dead Boy Detectives (premiere - April 25)

Netflix continues to develop the Sandman universe based on Neil Gaiman's comics. 30 years ago, Gaiman introduced two dead boys who refused to move to the afterlife and stayed among people. In the series, the two ghost boys and their living friend investigate crimes involving mystical forces.

The Veil (premiere - April 30)

The mini-series, which will be released on the Hulu streaming platform, tells the story of a deadly confrontation between two women wrapped in a game of truth and lies. The events take place during a trip from Turkey to France. One of the characters has a secret that the others have to reveal.

The series stars Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale, The Invisible Man), Josh Charles (The Good Wife), James Purefoy (Resident Evil, High-Rise) and others.

The series was created by Steven Knight, known for his work on the scripts for the films Dirty Pretty Things, The Hummingbird Effect, and The Girl in the Spider's Web. He is also the creator of the series "Pointy Hats," "Blindspotting" and "All That Invisible Light.
