The head of the company contaminated more than 1.3 hectares of land by illegally dumping and burning animal carcasses in Kyiv region.
In Kyiv region, the head of a branch of the state enterprise Ukrvetssanzavod, which contaminated more than 1.3 hectares of land with the carcasses of dead animals, was exposed. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports .
Under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, the head of the state-owned enterprise's branch in Kyiv region was served a notice of suspicion of pollution and spoilage of land with waste harmful to life, human health and the environment, and abuse of power or office (Part 1 of Article 239, Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),
Details
According to the investigation, the director of one of the branches of Ukrvetssanzavod, which specializes in the processing and disposal of animal waste, organized a criminal scheme to make a profit under the guise of animal waste disposal.
Despite the fact that the company's facilities did not allow for the acceptance and disposal of large amounts of animal waste, the manager accepted it in excess of the maximum allowable amount. Among other things, animal by-products unsuitable for recycling were accepted for disposal.
The official received money for allegedly processing expired food into animal feed and fertilizers. In fact, such waste was disposed of on the territory of the enterprise and on communal land plots outside it.
In order to cover up these criminal actions, the waste was burned and covered with earth. 1.3 hectares of land contaminated with waste were found. The soil samples collected showed an excess of sulfur, superphosphate, chromium, copper, and zinc. The damage to the environment for pollution and land contamination amounted to more than UAH 1 million," the prosecutor's office said.
The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided. Other persons involved in the crime are also being identified.
