Ukrhydroenergo CEO: It will take years to restore DniproHES
Kyiv • UNN
Due to the extensive damage caused by Russian missile strikes, it will take years to restore the Dnipro HPP.
It will take years to restore the DniproHES to the extent it was operating before the Russian attack. Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, said this live on Suspilne TV channel, UNN reports.
We already understand that DniproHES is one station that will be out of service for a long time. We cannot yet understand how much time it will take, but we already understand that it will take years to restore the station before the missile strike
He reminded that more than 6 missiles hit DniproHES-2, so the damage was extensive.
According to him, it is currently impossible to dismantle all the rubble, as both the ceiling and the walls with crane beams have collapsed onto the engine room. It is necessary to dismantle the upper part of the machine hall to get to the lower part.
Syrota said that on Saturday, March 23, a meeting was held with the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration to ensure that State Emergency Service specialists with equipment to dismantle the ceiling joined the relief efforts.
"The dam itself has not been damaged to date. Only the crane beams on the dam and the bridge crossing have been damaged. We will try to restore the bridge crossing as soon as possible," said Sirota.
He also indicated that it would take 10 days to understand whether it would be possible to connect the station to the generation.
